A Saturday street fair

One of my favorite things about DC was its farmers' market. I went to Eastern Market on Capitol Hill almost every weekend to buy produce or something from its flea market. Or I simply went to get outside and people watch. Most recently I bought this antique window/mirror.

So I was so excited today to come across this street fair/arts festival at Campus Corner. It made me realize that Norman does have a little funk and flair!

I got this great ring made out of a vintage glass bead from the 40's. And a neat little glass landscape necklace!

I also snatched up this painted chalkboard made out of what I think was the top half of an old door.

It's a beautiful day here and it was so nice to see a bit of the local community!

For your enjoyment, a slightly embarrassing picture of me at the event.

And for some reflection today, a poem about another beautiful day. Robert Frost's "A Prayer in Spring."

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dialating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossoming mid-air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

My new apartment

So I officially live in Norman now. Though we had the most dramatic move in day ever, things have settled a bit and the apartment's finally feeling homey. Here are a few pictures of my room!

My new bedspread and the headboard my mom and I made!

My desk and antique mirror from Eastern Market:

The glider my mom and I got at a consignment shop and recovered in this beautiful paisley tapestry:

My cute but small bathroom:

Some flair:

A quick view of the living room and dining area:

And another angle. Notice our two red walls.

I hope you enjoyed the virtual tour, now I have to get back to studying.

Meet the newest member of our family!

This new kittie doesn't have a name yet, but my mom wants to call her "Winkie." She came this morning from some friends whose tree she's been living in. Even though the pictures would indicate otherwise, she is an outdoor cat... We are far too allergic for her to be inside long. Dad says he's just going to call her Cat.

Austin, she's replaced you as mom's favorite. Evil laugh.
